I really wanted to do a song that would react of motion for my flag i made for the final. What i wanted to have was Born in the USA, but i was extremely nervous because i am awful with the arduino's and coding they both scare the shit out of me! so i never did get around to it. but what i would have done is put a motion sensor inside the box where the stars go, because the background would be a dark blue and it would make it easy to have the sensor go unnoticed. i then would have a on/off switch so i could have only go on when i wanted it to rather than all day and night, because that would get old.
i do deeply regret not trying to do it but that is probably because i am finished with finals now and stress free. i am deeply sorry to you Deb, please dont remember me as a failure! i do however hope you have a wonderful ever after in California with your husband that im sure misses you more than words can describe. i also hope one day you make it to be a main part of Circus Ole, with your trapese skills. i know if you keep practicing hard one day you will be able to make that happen! Best wishes!

FInal Project
this project was really fun, but also very challenging. The first challenge, deciding what to do. So it took me awhile to think of what i wanted to do but i finally decided to go with an american flag that lights up. I was hoping to have a 1' frame and then for the white stripes i would have a board running across the frame so it would be a 1' from the actual board and underneath the board I would have the red lights that would then reflect of the running board and back onto the main board, that would then make for the red stripes. However after we connected everything we found that the 20 red LED's i had glowing were not strong enough to make it look cool. So we decided to not do the running boards and just paint the red stripes on, which in the end it still made it look cool.
the second challenge was figuring out what power source to use. In class you taught us how volts and amps are different, so i needed to figure out what of both i needed to be able to power all the lights with out destroying them. With the help of Deborah and Janel we figured out we would need atleaset 3-5 volts and more than 1.5 amps. luckily we bought a power cord which Janel awesomely cut and installed alligator clips so that I could just clip them onto the back of my board. other than that the project went fairly smooth. I really liked that I got to learn how to solder. it was really fun also to get some wood work in with the framing and cutting of my board.
I think i will do some work on the project still this summer to make it look a little better on my wall! My one regret is i didnt take the time because i was nervous to have it make some kind of noise. Like play the national anthem or Born in the USA. I wouldn't say I ran into any other challenges although the project did take quite a bit longer than I thought it would.
Overall i really enjoyed the project, it was awesome to learn all the little things i would have never learned if i didnt take this class. I had a lot of fun, thanks for your patience Deb and Janel, I love you!

TOUCHY TOUCHY.
Crafting mixed with coding is just not a good mix for me. although i did do better this project with the sewing and wiring coding the dang thing was nearly impossible. Lucky for me we have great T.A. who was able to figure out why my sensor's weren't reading my grip. turns out we were missing one simple little line... One line and the whole dang thing didnt work. But needless to say my little guy is up and running. this project was fun and actually boosted my confidence because my Minion actually kind of looks like a Minion. i am nervous going into our next project though, coding just goes right over my head.
But i know with a lot of help from our friendly teachers i will soon arrive on the same plane as my peers.
please be kind when looking at my final project, he's self-concious.

Capacitive Touch
My sewing skills have improved which has really boosted my confidence when facing this project. A lot of problems did come forth through out this project, the biggest being when I went to try and control my patches they wouldn't register at all. Even with the help with Deborah and other students my lily tiny just didnt want to register the input. On a brighter note however all of my lights worked the first time and are continuing to work. I just hope that eventually my touch pads work otherwise I will be heart broken and my Minion will suffer from bullying his entire life.
I got my idea for the Minion when we were looking at the packet that Deborah handed out with the little monster in it. I wanted to do that but then got the idea to mix it up a little bit and make something that would be easy but different and then arose this beautiful thing.
What I learned from this project is that i need to always make sure that I have enough supplies, I ran out of wire and it really delayed my progress. Also I will definitely make sure to get a lily tiny that does work.

Here is Minion Dominion a little before he was completely finished. isnt he adorable?
Here is my little guy about 30% complete. he's not cute yet but he will be.

Country swing dance fundraiser
Country swing dance support’s recovering student.
Utah State University’s College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences will be sponsoring a night of country swing dancing on Friday at 9 p.m. in the Evan N. Stevenson Ballroom.
The event is a fundraiser for Dallin Wengert, a CAAS student recovering from a car accident in May in which he sustained critical head and internal injuries.
“He was hit by an oncoming car while turning into the farm for work that night,” said event coordinator Heidi King. “His condition was grave. It was believed he would not make it.”
The event will be free but CAAS is asking for a two-dollar donation from attendees. Proceeds will go to Wengert and his wife Amy, who is currently pregnant with the couple’s first child.
“Dallin has made an amazing recovery but still has a long way to go,” King said. “He is still struggling with short-term memory loss and amnesia. He also doing speech and occupational rehabilitation in Arizona.”
CAAS will be sponsoring a raffle at the event and is also organizing a benefit concert for the coming year.
“The hope is that fellow classmates and the community will come together and help support Dallin and his family,” said CAAS council president Beth Jensen. “This gives everyone a chance to come have a fun night and give back.”
